Volunteer & Foster Information

We are ALWAYS in need of volunteers to help us with the day to day duties of horse rescue. Our program would not be possible without volunteers to help us with these duties such as stall cleaning, filling water buckets, grooming, turn outs, etc. This is not the glorious work of horses but all necessary work. No horse experience is needed for many of the positions we have available. We thank you VERY much for devoting your time to help make the Under the Angel's Wings Rescue  program possible.

 VOLUNTEER POSITIONS AVAILABLE

Stall/Horse Maintenance: No horse experience is required for this position just the desire to help out and the confidence to be in close proximity to a horse. You must be at least 13 years old or older unless accompanied by an adult then most all ages are welcome so long as children can follow basic instructions for their and the horses safety. Duties will be structured towards age and abilities.

Water Bucket Cleaning & Filling: NO horse experience is required. We always need volunteers to help out with cleaning and filling water buckets. Attention to detail is needed for this position as there really is an "art" to making sure each horse has a clean and full bucket without wasting tons of water or flooding the horses stalls.

General Maintenance: No horse experience is required. General maintenance around our properties is always needed as well. You must be 13 years or older unless accompanied by an adult.

Horse Exercising and/or Schooling: Horse experience IS REQUIRED for this position. You MUST be able to handle a horse that is NOT considered a beginners horse. We need riders who can handle and ride a horse that "needs work", you do not have to be able to ride a bucking bronco but the horses we have that are in need of riding are not "bombproof" or "dead broke".

Volunteer Coordinator: We are in need of a person who can help to coordinate and schedule volunteers. Your duties include being the contact person for those interested in volunteering, training new volunteers, and scheduling volunteers.

Fundraising Coordinator: We are in need of a volunteer who can help us with starting new fundraisers, helping with on going fundraisers, helping with networking to make fundraisers successful, helping to get other volunteer involved in fundraising, and brain storming to come up with new ideas for fundraisers.

If you would like to come out and volunteer please email us and let us know what days and times you are available. We are currently most in need of volunteers who can help for a couple of hours on Monday Mornings from around 8:30am to 10:30am. We need people all other days and times as well so please submit your available times to us via email and we will set you up to come out and help the horses.

FOSTER HOMES NEEDED

What is a Foster Home you ask? A foster home is someone who is willing to take a rescued horse into their home and provide all the training, feed, and care needed for that particular horse's needs. You will provide for all the expenses for your fostered horse, but if receipts are kept for all your foster horse's expenses at the end of the year they can be turned into UAWR and we can provide you a receipt for a tax deduction for the total amount of all expenses paid. (Speak to your tax advisor for the extent of the law on deductibility for your personal circumstances)

Can I foster a horse but have UAWR pay for their expenses? It is a very rare occasion that UAWR will provide the costs needed to care for your foster horse but if you can take a difficult horse that is in need of training and provide that training then we defiantly would be willing to work out a program that would be suitable for both you and UAWR.

Can UAWR provide a stall to keep my fostered horse in? No, we can not provide a stall for your fostered horse, we are very limited on the stall we have and need to utilize all panels available to us. So in order to foster a horse you must have your own stall and shelter for the horse to be kept in.

If you would like more info on Volunteering, Fostering, or Sponsoring a horse please email us at
